It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
